Easter Snow

We had 9 inches of snow on Good Friday, unprecedented in my memories of Easter (although I'm not famous for my memory). Spring snowstorms aren't that uncommon in Michigan, but 9 inches is probably two standard deviations from the mean.

Here are a couple of pictures to memorialize the occasion.

looks nice, the North Island doesn't really see any snow at sea level, even in the summer.

Of course snow in March would be quite out of the question. We're still on Daylight Savings Time down here.

Do you call it summer? I thought you called July and August winter?

I had a New Zealander friend in grad school, who spent her "summer" vacation back home, and so went almost two years without having a real summer. She didn't seem to mind, though.

I also read once about a skiier who came to North America for its winter months, and down to New Zealand for its winters. He claimed not to have seen summer for close to a decade, and didn't miss it at all.
